New Slinger Unit (version 2) This slinger is based on a Balearic slinger from the Punic wars but could be used for any ancient period slinger. He is intended as a predecessor for the bowman (but that depends on the scenario you want). I numbered the unit '94' but to use as any number please renumber all the files where you see '94' with the unit number you wish to use. After which please amend the appropriate spriteID.txt, uniticon.txt and units.txt files etc depending on the use you want to make of it (there are other excellent guides for adding new units etc to the game). This unit has shadows for all movement animations but only for 'view 4' attack and death animations (i.e. intended for use when using the 'battlefield view'). Its made from 60 movement frames, 60 attack frames and 20 death frames. The download comes with all files for correctly setting up an animated sprite. These are :- GU94.SPR - The sprite itself please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\GRAPHICS\SPRITES CU094A.AVI (160x120; 15fps; 4 seconds play; compressed) - The animated Great Library file if you want to switch your GL animations on. - Please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\VIDEOS CU094F.TGA (160x120; no Alpha; no compression) - The still frame used by the Great Library if animations are switched off. - Please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\GRAPHICS\PICTURES UPU094.TGA (96x72; no Alpha; no compression) - The unit icon used in cheat mode - Please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\GRAPHICS\ICONS UPU094B.TGA (72x72;no alpha no compression) - The picture displayed if you right click the unit - Please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\GRAPHICS\PICTURES UPUA94.TGA (96x72;no Alpha; no compression) -The picture displayed in the build options and when you select a unit for moving. - Please place in - your CTP directory ..\CTP_DATA\DEFAULT\GRAPHICS\PICTURES I've tested all aspects so you shouldn't have any problems with the unit - so good luck with your scenarios. Any comments etc or suggestions please email tdavies@ndirect.co.uk I'd like to thank the various people who have all posted on the Apolyton site concerning how to create sprites in particular I'd like to thank Harlan Thompson for his comments and hopefully I've incorporated his suggestions adequately into the final sprite (I redid the unit and all animations - hey it is my first 3D model and animation!) and Katy Sodeau who helped me on the shadows. Hope you like the end product. Tom Davies
